1716 Aviation Safety Group’s approach to any project is to first understand the existing work flow of each process within the organization. Next is to understand the gap which may exist between the existing work flow and any regulatory, industry best practices or internal standards. Once the gaps have been identified, 1716 Aviation Safety Group will work with the client to determine the most applicable solution keeping in mind the unique operations of each client, their budget and regulatory requirements. At the end of the day, the solution must be practical, efficient, effective, affordable and satisfy the regulatory requirements.

The official name and title of the founder of 1716 Aviation Safety Group is Capt Omar Michael Clarke, MSc, MBA, BEng (Hons), MRAeS, pjsc. Capt Clarke is a Canadian Military trained aviator and officer. He served with the Jamaica Defence Force in various capacities including Infantry Officer, Aerospace Engineering Officer, Pilot and Flight Safety Officer (all training completed b the Canadian Military). Capt Clarke’s SMS experience began in the military, expanded to Qatar where he was responsible for an offshore air transport quality assurance and safety and in Canada for an airplane commercial regional carrier. As a pilot, Capt Clarke operated airplanes and helicopters in various areas of operations ranging from the tropics of the Caribbean and Africa, the desert of the Middle East and the diversity of North America aeronautical experience which includes the Canadian Arctic region.

Academically, Capt Clarke has the MSc in Air Transport Management (City University, London) and MBA (Australian Institute of Business).  He maintains relevant/current certifications in Aviation Safety and Quality Assurance and is equipped with the IATA endorsed courses in Safety, Risk Management and Auditing and the ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor course.
